Junior Church Promotion service - July 13
We did very much enjoy the Junior Church promotion service way back on 21st July. Congratulations to all our children, we did enjoy your singing and readings and your smiles.
Your smiles always make us all feel so much better.
Thanks also to Helen Hilson and to all our Junior Church leaders all their work throughout the year, and to everyone who helped lead our Children’s activities over the summer holidays. Thank you.
Old Friends drop by .. - July 13
Members of the Reading Community Gospel Choir dropped in one Sunday in early July to ask could they join in our morning service. A planned event had been cancelled and they had just wanted to share the joy of Jesus Christ with all of us.
It was like family arriving unexpectedly, a joyous occasion. Thank you.
Thank you for supporting AFRICA DAY
Music - Dance -‘Taste of Africa’ Buffet
A fantastic celebration of African Culture and Food, which around 200 people attended to get a flavour of traditional African culture and raise money for charities in Africa. Thanks everyone.
We'll let you know when we plan our next Africa Day
We met again at Wesley Methodist car park, Queens Road, Reading to meet the animals; a donkey with his friend the little Shetland pony, goats and sheep as they joined Joseph and Mary on their special journey, meeting Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and heard sng of that special Christmas story.
Chaired by Colin MacBean the evening was a great success. Revd Gordon Connell gave a very enjoyable Immortal Memory, gining an in-sight into the life and work of Scotland's National poet Rabbie Burns. Scott Wheeler was generous in his praise of the lassies but was put frimly in his place by her extremely funny reply by Diana Lewis. A very enjoyable evening, with special thanks to Richard Wambua, our chef from Kenya.
